MCMC takes down 31 fake Facebook accounts posing as NSRC
MCMC warns such impersonation not only misleads the public but also disrupts the centre’s vital efforts - Sept 4, 2025

THE Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has removed 31 fraudulent Facebook accounts falsely claiming to represent the National Scam Response Centre (NSRC).

Describing the actions as irresponsible, MCMC warned that such impersonation not only misleads the public but also disrupts the NSRC’s vital efforts to protect the community from online scams.

The commission emphasised that official communications from NSRC are exclusively distributed through recognised enforcement agency channels. It urged the public to remain vigilant, promptly report suspicious accounts or messages to authorities, and support the integrity of the NSRC.

MCMC reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), NSRC, and social media platforms to combat the proliferation of fake accounts and misinformation, safeguarding the security of internet users across Malaysia. - Sept 4, 2025
