FORMER Deputy President of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, has hinted that he may not return to the party's leadership, suggesting it would be better for both himself and PKR President, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, to go their separate ways politically.
In a statement posted to Facebook, the former Minister of Economy reaffirmed his resolve to speak out on political and party-related issues, regardless of internal resistance.
“I just hope PKR and the current leadership will stop overreacting every time I share my views,” he said.
“The decision has already been made by PKR, and many of the current leaders were complicit in that decision.
“When the rice has turned to porridge, it is immature to expect me to swallow it whole, just as they wish,” he added.
Addressing allegations that he harboured ambitions to challenge the Prime Minister, Rafizi dismissed the claims as part of a recurring narrative designed to discredit him.
“Initially, there were efforts to stir discontent among Pakatan Harapan supporters and the public by accusing me of neglecting grassroots supporters.
“When I took the stand that looking after the grassroots does not mean distributing money, they could say whatever they liked—I was not going to get involved,” he said.
He further claimed that the narrative then shifted, suggesting he was sulking in order to justify a challenge from then Deputy President, Nurul Izzah Anwar.
“When I resigned and willingly vacated a cushy government post, even when offered the Deputy President position by appointment, that version of the story died right there,” he stated.
Rafizi stressed that his current responsibility is to advocate for a cleaner political landscape, free from corruption.
“God willing, I will carry out that duty to the best of my ability. As for the rest, it would be better for PKR, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, and myself to go down separate paths.
“I see no path that would lead me back into PKR’s leadership in the future,” he added. - October 17, 2025
