Tragedy strikes quiet village as father discovers wife and daughter dead at home

A SECURITY guard returned home from work on Saturday evening to a horrific scene—his wife and young daughter dead in their Kampung Sekolah Juru home.

The father, in his 50s, was visibly distressed as he alerted a neighbour moments after making the discovery at around 7:30pm.

“He greeted me twice before sharing the shocking news, his face stricken with grief,” said Ida, 51, a neighbour. “It was just after the Maghrib call to prayer. He was still in his work uniform and had arrived on a motorbike. He looked heartbroken before hurrying off.”

Ida said she had not heard any commotion or screams from the house earlier, and the news came as a complete shock.

Another neighbour, Ideris, 61, identified the deceased as Su, 51, who had rented the house with her family for about two years. According to him, the couple led quiet, working lives and mostly kept to themselves.

“They were polite, always exchanged greetings. The wife worked as a canteen cook—I don’t know where exactly—and previously sold nasi lemak,” said Ideris. “Her husband occasionally joined Maghrib prayers at the mosque after work.”

The family had celebrated their son’s wedding earlier this year, said Ideris. He added that in all his decades living in the village, he had never known of such a serious crime in the area.

“The worst we had were some break-ins, and even those were many years ago. There’s never been anything like this. We never felt unsafe here,” he said.

Police and medical personnel from Hospital Seberang Jaya were seen removing the bodies around 1:50am. Forensic teams were also present at the scene.

Earlier reports confirmed that the bodies of the woman and her 11-year-old daughter were discovered by the husband upon his return from work. The mother was found lifeless in the kitchen on the ground floor, while the daughter was found face down and covered in blood upstairs.

Police investigations are ongoing. - October 19, 2025
