A 37-year-old woman sustained injuries early this morning after part of her home’s kitchen structure collapsed in Kampung Pulo Hilir, Kuching.

A WOMAN was injured in the early hours of Sunday morning when the kitchen structure of her home collapsed in Kampung Pulo Hilir, Kuching.

The victim, identified as 37-year-old Siti Aisyah Hajemi, reportedly fell into the collapsed section of the house during the incident.

A spokesperson for the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre said they received an emergency call at 3.35am regarding the structural collapse.

A team of eight firefighters from the Petra Jaya Fire and Rescue Station, along with a fire engine, was immediately dispatched to the scene, located approximately eight kilometres from the station.

“Upon arrival at 3.43am, the team found that part of the kitchen structure had collapsed,” the spokesperson said in a statement issued today.

“A woman was found to have fallen into the collapsed area and was successfully rescued following a swift operation.”

The operation was brought under control by 3.50am and concluded five minutes later.

Emergency medical responders from the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM) provided initial treatment on-site before the victim was transported to Sarawak General Hospital (HUS) for further examination.
