THE attendance list of national leaders and international organisations at the upcoming 47th ASEAN Summit, along with Malaysia’s key accomplishments as ASEAN Chair, will be among the main issues discussed in today’s Dewan Rakyat sitting.

According to the Order Paper published on Parliament’s official website, the question will be raised by Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari (PH–Gombak) to the Prime Minister during Minister’s Question Time.

He will also seek clarification on the government’s final preparations to ensure the smooth running of the summit, as Malaysia takes centre stage in global affairs.

In the same session, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah (PN–Indera Mahkota) will ask the Prime Minister to outline the government’s measures to enhance school safety and foster stronger cooperation between schools, parents, local communities and security agencies in safeguarding students’ wellbeing at the grassroots level.

During the question-and-answer session, Datuk Ir Yusuf Abd Wahab (GPS–Tanjong Manis) is expected to request an update from the Prime Minister on the status of the investigation report into the sinkhole incident along Jalan Masjid India that occurred in August last year.

Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh (PH–Ledang) will direct a question to the Defence Minister on steps being taken to ensure a more transparent and accountable defence procurement process, following the controversy involving the Malaysian Defence Intelligence Organisation (MDIO).

Meanwhile, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman (Muda–Muar) will seek clarification from the Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Ministry on national preparedness to address earthquakes, particularly in areas that have not previously experienced such natural disasters.

He is also expected to inquire about early warning systems and preventive measures designed to help communities anticipate and mitigate the impact of such events.

Following the Q&A session, the Dewan Rakyat will proceed with the debate on the Supply Bill (Budget 2026) at the policy stage, now entering its sixth day, after it was tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on 10 October.

The policy stage debate is scheduled to run for eight days until 28 October, while the committee stage will follow from 5 to 27 November.

The Third Meeting of the Fourth Session of the 15th Parliament will continue over 35 days until 4 December. - October 23, 2025
