HEAVY rains caused flooding in several parts of Penang, while landslides and numerous cases of falling trees were also reports over the last three days.
A landslide last night caused the major road artery of Jalan Tun Sardon to be closed, while traffic congestions were also reported throughout the state.

Bayan Lepas assemblyman Datuk Azrul Mahathir Aziz, the state deputy legislative speaker, was among the first elected representatives to highlight the damage.
He said that the existing drainage systems were unable to cope with the volume of water, despite low tide conditions.
Despite valiant efforts by the local authorities to prepare for the monsoon following the advisory from the meteorological services department, the heavy rains and strong winds were too much to cope.
"I have requested immediate assistance from the relevant government agencies to monitor the situation and provide aid to affected residents," Azrul Mahathir said.

He shared an emergency hotline number (04-8669033) which has since been activated.
Several trees fell including one near the Lam Wah Ee Hospital, causing jams as road users at peak travel hours needed to find alternative routes.
A major landslide at the Anjung Indah lookout point along Jalan Tun Sardon in Balik Pulau, forced authorities to close the hill road to traffic.
Faiz Helmi, who led the state and rescue department operations, said his crew cleared fallen trees and ensured the site was safe before handing it over to the public works department and police for further action.
State executive councillor Zairil Khir Johari will hold a media briefing later today to provide updates on the situation.
Earlier, Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow had said that the monsoon weather pattern will arrive from now until March, next year with 21 days out of the next month, expected to be rainy. - October 24, 2025.
