A DEPUTY executive councilor has made a strong plea for parents to pay greater attention to what their children are doing and ensure strict controls over their online time.

Melaka deputy exco for Women, Family and Community Development, Leng Chau Yen made the plea after three parents reported that their underage daughters were caught engaging in nude online chats.

According to reports in Guang Ming Daily, the three girls - aged eight, nine and 10 were lured into nude online chatting in exchange for money and free phone top-ups.

"Their parents discovered what they were doing and have lodged police reports.

"The first case involves an eight-year-old who was left under her grandmother's care while her parents were busy at work," said the Bandar Hilir assemblywoman.

She said the girl was found chatting naked on her mobile phone in exchange for money.

Another parent reported that his nine-year-old daughter had nude chats to get mobile phone top-ups.

"As for the 10-year-old girl, she did not even think there was anything wrong with it and even made some online videos for her 'boyfriend'," said Leng.

She urged parents to be more alert to what their children are doing and take time to educate them about what is right and wrong with regards to their body. - October 27, 2025
