KPDN vows swift action over allegations of irregularities in RON95 fuel sales
Armizan says the ministry received six complaints related to alleged short supply of RON95 petrol, with no official reports concerning fuel quality - November 1, 2025

THE Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has pledged immediate and transparent action in response to social media claims alleging that petrol users have received less RON95 fuel than paid for and that its quality has declined since the introduction of the targeted subsidy initiative, BUDI95.

Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali has directed a full and urgent investigation to ensure that consumers’ rights remain fully protected.

“To date, KPDN has received six complaints related to alleged short supply of RON95 petrol, with no official reports concerning fuel quality,” the ministry said in a statement.

Enforcement officers have since launched inspections, including checks on fuel pumps and sales records.

“The investigation found no breaches of any laws under KPDN’s enforcement,” the statement continued.

The ministry emphasised that the implementation of BUDI95 does not involve any change to the quantity or quality of RON95 fuel sold to consumers.

Ongoing monitoring will continue, including random sampling and calibration tests to verify measurement accuracy.

KPDN has also issued a stern warning to any party found guilty of malpractice under the Trade Descriptions Act 2011 (Act 730).

Companies may face fines of up to RM250,000 for a first offence and up to RM500,000 for subsequent offences, while individuals may be fined up to RM100,000 or jailed for up to three years, or both.

Repeat offenders face penalties of up to RM250,000 or imprisonment for up to five years, or both.

The ministry has urged members of the public with credible information or complaints to file detailed reports through its official channels — including WhatsApp at 019-848 8000, the toll-free hotline 1-800-886-800, email at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]), or via the Ez ADU KPDN mobile application.

“The ministry gives its assurance that every report submitted with supporting information will be followed up with prompt action,” KPDN Director-General of Enforcement Datuk Azman Adam said. - November 1, 2025
