SEVERAL premises believed to be operating prostitution activities under the guise of legitimate businesses were raided in a surprise enforcement exercise under Ops Air Noda on Monday.
Kuala Muda District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan, said the joint operation involved cutting off water supply to the suspected premises under Section 55 of the Water Services Industry Act 2006.
He said the move was part of a tougher approach to curb immoral activities that have continued despite multiple raids and legal action.
“Previously, arrests were made and those involved were charged in court, yet the same activities were found to persist. Following that, firm action was taken to stop prostitution from continuing to operate,” he said in a statement on Monday.
The operation was carried out jointly by the Kuala Muda District Police Headquarters (IPD), Syarikat Air Darul Aman (SADA), the National Water Services Commission (SPAN) and the Sungai Petani Municipal Council (MPSPK).
Three premises located in Taman Sejati, Taman Ria Jaya and Pekan Baru were targeted during the operation, where water supply was cut off as part of enforcement efforts.
Hanyan said the police would continue to work closely with other enforcement agencies to ensure that such unlawful and immoral activities are completely eradicated.
