A 23-YEAR-OLD woman was killed after her motorcycle skidded while she tried to avoid a cow crossing the road along Jalan Ulu Melaka here late last night.

The victim, identified as Siti Sarah Hana Mohamad Subri from Kota Kuala Muda, Kedah, died at the scene from severe head injuries.

Langkawi District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Khairul Azhar Nuruddin said the incident occurred at about 11.40pm when the victim, who worked as a hijab trader, was travelling from Kampung Ulu Melaka towards Ayer Hangat.

“Upon reaching the location, her motorcycle skidded as she tried to avoid a cow that was crossing from the left to the right shoulder of the road,” he said in a statement today.

“The victim was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe head injuries and her body was taken to the Forensic Unit of Sultanah Maliha Hospital for a post-mortem examination.”

Khairul Azhar added that the cause of death has yet to be confirmed by hospital authorities.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. - November 8, 2025
