POLICE have detained a 27-year-old man who allegedly entered a woman’s apartment in Taman Sri Sentosa naked and stole her mobile phone, causing injuries during a struggle, officials confirmed.
Brickfields District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Hoo Chang Hook, said the incident occurred around 3pm the previous day when the 20-year-old victim was hanging laundry and heard her gate being opened, initially assuming it was a housemate.
“The victim then saw a naked man enter and tried to escape but was blocked by the suspect,” he explained.
Hoo detailed that a scuffle ensued, leaving the woman with bruises and scratches on her left thigh, lips, and hand.
The suspect allegedly threatened to kill her and demanded money. He seized her mobile phone when she refused to provide the passcode before fleeing the apartment.
Police arrested the suspect at Taman Sri Sentosa at 7.12pm the following day, recovering three mobile phones, a backpack, a laptop, and clothing items.
“Initial investigations revealed the suspect admitted to involvement in previous cases under Sections 394 and 380 of the Penal Code and claimed he committed the robberies to fund his daily expenses,” Hoo said.
The man has 12 prior criminal records and seven drug-related offences, and a preliminary urine test indicated he was positive for cannabis.
He has been remanded for five days until 13 November to assist with investigations under Section 394 of the Penal Code. - November 9, 2025
