THE Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) strongly denied allegations that have gone viral on social media that the ministry served alcoholic beverages using wine glasses (gelas berkaki) at the Ministerial Excellence Awards Ceremony on November 8.

According to the KPKT, the “Cucumber Apple Slider” drink served to guests is a carbonated soft drink and does not contain any alcohol.

"Preparing drinks in wine glasses is a common catering rule for certain events.

"The dissemination of inaccurate information can affect the image of the ministry and the reputation of the guests who attended," said the KPKT in a Facebook post.

Following this, a report has been made to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for further investigation.

The public is advised to refer to the ministry before making any assumptions or spreading unfounded speculation.

The ministry stressed that it remains committed to ensuring that every event organised complies with guidelines, values of integrity and community sensitivity. – November 17, 2025
