POLICE have arrested a man who was caught driving a luxury sports utility vehicle (SUV) in a dangerous manner on the Sungai Besi Highway heading towards Taman Naga Emas, Kuala Lumpur - an incident that also went viral on social media since yesterday.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department Chief ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa in a statement said the 32-year-old man was arrested when he appeared at the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Police Station at 10.30am this morning to give a statement.

"Initial investigations found that the incident occurred at 8am yesterday. The police also conducted a urine and breath analyzer test on the individual," he said.

Mohd Zamzuri said that when questioned about the incident, the male driver gave the excuse that his vehicle's tire burst due to hitting a pothole and since his residence was nearby, he decided to drive his vehicle straight home.

The one-minute video of the incident was recorded by a motorcyclist and showed a Range Rover Velar being driven in a dangerous manner with the right rear tire burst, exposing the rim.

Mohd Zamzuri also asked witnesses who saw the incident to come forward to assist in the investigation by contacting the Tun H.S. Lee Traffic Police Station at 03-2071 9999 or the nearest police station.

The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving. - November 23, 2025
