THE Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has confirmed that all petrol dispensers nationwide comply with the prescribed measurement standards following a series of inspections prompted by consumer complaints regarding RON95 petrol volumes under the Program BUDI MADANI RON95.
The inspections, conducted from 3 to 9 November 2025, involved KPDN enforcement officers checking 2,282 dispensers across 584 petrol stations, including full-fledged stations, mini stations, and unbranded mini stations.
The exercise aimed to verify that all dispensers were certified, functioned within the permitted error margins, and had not been tampered with or manipulated.
“KPDN is committed to ensuring that petrol measurements for RON95 are accurate and do not result in any loss to consumers,” said Datuk Azman Adam, Director General of Enforcement.
“Regular inspections will continue, and strict action will be taken against any operators found manipulating or violating technical standards under existing laws.”
Violations under Section 16 of the Weights and Measures Act 1972 can result in a fine of up to RM40,000, imprisonment of up to three years, or both, with the confiscation of offending measuring instruments.
The ministry emphasised that consumer protection and fairness in trade remain top priorities. Members of the public with complaints or information on irregularities can report them via WhatsApp, the KPDN e-Complaint portal, the 1-800-886-800 call centre, or the Ez ADU KPDN mobile application. - November 25, 2025
