SENIOR Political Secretary to the Prime Minister, Datuk Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin resigned today.

His resignation letter was submitted to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim this morning.

In a sharing on X, Shamsul said his resignation was due to attempts to attack him on issues that could damage the image of the Madani Government.

“I understand that there is an attempt to attack me with things that can damage the image of the Madani government. “Therefore, I have decided to defend myself from this attack.

“I also submitted my resignation letter this morning to YAB Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. I thank YAB PM for the trust he has placed in me,” he said.

This follows reports of an alleged support letter issued by a political aide to the prime minister addressed to a health minister's aide, asking for six contractors to be considered for the Muar hospital project.

Anwar later said the support letter issued by one of his political aides was “vague” and did not constitute an instruction.

He was responding to former minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli’s call for him to take firm action against Shamsul Iskandar for issuing a support letter last year. - November 25, 2025
