A 73-YEAR-OLD man tragically died after being assaulted with a wooden pole and repeatedly kicked by two individuals in an incident driven by jealousy at a house in Kampung Atas, Singai, last night.

The victim, a carpenter from Kampung Daun, Singai, sustained severe injuries to his head and body and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bau District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Haide A. Rahman, explained, “The incident occurred when the victim went to the home of a 63-year-old woman suspect, who accused him of having an affair with another man.

A confrontation ensued, during which the victim struck the woman’s face. She then fled outside, where she grabbed a wooden pole and struck the victim’s hand.

At that moment, another suspect, a 63-year-old retired soldier, intervened and kicked the victim.”

He added, “The retired soldier also asked the woman to stop hitting the victim after seeing his head bleeding and him collapsing to the ground.”

Police recovered a wooden pole near the victim’s body. Both suspects later surrendered to authorities at 8.20am today and are now in custody. - November 30, 2025
