FORMER Vice-President of the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker has publicly suggested that Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah be considered for a position in the incoming Cabinet, describing the UMNO stalwart as a principled party leader and a model of integrity among veteran Malay politicians.

Speaking in a Facebook post on Thursday, Ti Lian Ker highlighted Dr Shamsul Anuar’s selfless service and modesty, noting that his contributions have often gone unnoticed.

“I rarely ‘apple polish’ or flatter because that is not my culture, but the Prime Minister asked the public to suggest names for a Cabinet that is increasingly short of gems,” he said.

He added that Dr Shamsul Anuar, who previously resigned as a minister on party principles rather than personal reasons, has not received due recognition for his courage, decisiveness, and sacrifices.

“I read this suggested name. Indeed, he is rarely highlighted because he does not seek media attention. Shamsul Anuar Nasarah resigned as a minister on principle for his party, not personally, yet the party did not acknowledge his bravery, firmness, and sacrifice,” he wrote.

The remarks come amid speculation over a potential Cabinet reshuffle following several ministerial resignations and the conclusion of terms for ministers and deputy ministers holding Senatorial posts.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had earlier encouraged the media to submit recommendations for the new Cabinet lineup, reportedly in a light-hearted manner.

The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed on Wednesday that Anwar will finalise the list of ministers and deputy ministers for the Government of Madani only after a careful and considered review. - December 4, 2025
