THE Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has reaffirmed that it will not tolerate any form of misconduct in connection with the recent shooting incident in Durian Tunggal, Melaka.
Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said the investigation is being carried out in a comprehensive and transparent manner.
“PDRM stresses its commitment to conducting the investigation professionally and with integrity, and will not compromise on any form of misconduct,” he said in a statement on Sunday.
He also cautioned the public against circulating unverified claims.
“The public is advised not to make any speculation or spread inaccurate information that could undermine the integrity of the ongoing investigation,” he added.
Mohd Khalid further confirmed that police have received a compact disc related to the incident.
“Police received a CD on Saturday, handed over by a family member of one of the suspects involved. The disc is believed to contain an audio recording of a phone conversation between the suspect and his wife prior to the incident,” he said.
He noted that the force welcomes information from the public via the hotline 019-376 4763, and expressed appreciation for public cooperation in maintaining safety and order.
On 3 December, the Federal Criminal Investigation Department established a special task force led by a Senior Assistant Commissioner to take over and lead the investigation at the Bukit Aman level, ensuring that all aspects are scrutinised thoroughly, professionally, and without compromise.
The case drew heightened attention after the families of the three suspects killed in the incident disputed claims that the men had acted violently or attacked police officers.
On 24 November, Melaka Police Chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar reported that three men, aged between 24 and 29, were shot dead after one allegedly swung a machete at a police officer during an operation at a palm oil plantation in Durian Tunggal. The 4.30am confrontation left a police corporal in his early thirties seriously injured in the left arm.
The ongoing probe seeks to establish a clear and factual account of the circumstances leading to the fatal encounter. - December 7, 2025
