ANOTHER RM100 Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) assistance will be credited to all adult citizens aged 18 and above on 9 February, providing financial support ahead of Chinese New Year and the upcoming Ramadan, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced today.

Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, confirmed that this year’s SARA payment will reach approximately 22 million Malaysians.

“SARA this year is for all the people, that is, 22 million Malaysians aged 18 and above. We will credit it on 9 February,” he said while speaking during his New Year address at a special monthly gathering in Putrajaya today.

The Prime Minister also provided details on the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) 2026 programme.

He stated that monthly STR recipients will receive RM200 directly into their identification-linked accounts starting 9 January.

In addition, Anwar announced that the first phase of STR payments, amounting to RM500, will be credited into the accounts of eligible Malaysians from 20 January.

These measures form part of the government’s ongoing efforts to provide targeted financial assistance to citizens while supporting festive and religious preparations.

“These payments are intended to help Malaysians as they prepare for Chinese New Year and Ramadan,” he added, underscoring the government’s commitment to welfare support for all eligible citizens. - January 5, 2025
