THE family of Nadia Kesuma has departed for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to oversee her funeral arrangements after authorities confirmed her death, ending a distressing period of uncertainty after she was reported missing at King Abdul Aziz International Airport last Thursday.

Her daughter, Amira Syakira Muhammad Kamarul Kabilan Abdullah, 26, said the family boarded a flight from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at 11 am Malaysian time and were expected to arrive in Jeddah at approximately 5.35 pm local time.

“The burial will take place there because the body cannot be brought back to Malaysia. My father and younger brother will handle all the related arrangements in Jeddah,” Amira told Buletin TV3.

She added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Wisma Putra) is expected to release an official statement regarding her mother’s passing in the near future.

According to Amira, the family has so far been informed that the cause of death was related to a heart condition.

The notification was received around 11.20 pm from Wisma Putra’s Management Division as well as the travel agency handling her mother’s journey.

Nadia Kesuma had earlier been reported missing after she could not be located upon arrival at King Abdul Aziz International Airport.

Her death has now been officially confirmed, bringing closure to a matter that had gripped her family and the public. - January 18, 2026
