A MAN was charged in the Tangkak Magistrate's Court today for stealing and keeping a woman's underwear.

The accused, Muhammad Hariz Abdullah, 36, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Lee Kim Keat, who sentenced him to 25 months in prison.

According to the first charge, the cooking gas cylinder transporter was charged with stealing several pieces of underwear from a 32-year-old woman at a house in Taman Alam Indah at 4.47 am, February 9.

The offence was charged under Section 379 of the Penal Code.

For the second charge, the accused was charged with keeping stolen property from the same victim in Kampung Paya Pupuk Solok Jaya, at 4.10 pm, February 10.

The accused was charged under Section 411 of the Penal Code, which provides for a prison sentence of up to five years or a fine, or both.

Based on the facts of the case, the victim lodged a police report after finding that the underwear hanging to dry on the fence of her house was missing.

The victim then checked the closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera in her house before seeing an unknown man taking the clothes.

Acting on the report, the police conducted an investigation and managed to arrest the accused in a residential area based on public information and surveillance. – February 13, 2026
