THE solemn proceedings of the Kota Kinabalu court commenced this morning with the arrival of a man in his seventies suspected of a chilling homicide that has gripped the local community since mid-February.
Transported in a Royal Malaysia Police van under stringent security, the suspect arrived at the court complex at approximately 8.25 am, flanked by officers from the Kota Kinabalu District Police Headquarters Criminal Investigation Department.
Clad in orange lock-up attire and restrained by handcuffs, the elderly man’s appearance follows a comprehensive investigation into the discovery of a woman’s dismembered remains at Taman Indah Permai.
The prosecution follows a formal confirmation from the Sabah Police Commissioner, Datuk Jauteh Dikun, who stated that the suspect would be charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
Regarding the broader investigation and the involvement of the suspect’s family, the Commissioner noted that three other individuals, who are the children of the primary suspect, may be called as prosecution witnesses in the case.
The case originated on the morning of 12 February when a routine waste collection turned into a forensic investigation.
At approximately 6.30 am, a garbage truck worker discovered human body parts while performing his duties, leading to the revelation that a victim had been killed and her body discarded across several sites in the Sepanggar area.
Initial police efforts led to the detention of the suspect’s son, aged in his twenties, followed by the arrest of two daughters.
These individuals were questioned to determine their potential roles or knowledge concerning the events leading up to the grim discovery.
With the primary suspect now facing the judiciary, the focus shifts to the formal legal process and the evidence gathered by the authorities in this grave matter. - February 27, 2026
