LAWYER Nizamuddin Hamid appeared at the federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman on Thursday morning to provide a statement to investigators over allegations of an attempt to overthrow the government.

Nizamuddin, who serves as legal counsel to Toh Puan Na’imah Abdul Khalid, the widow of the late Tun Daim Zainuddin, arrived at the Royal Malaysia Police headquarters at about 10.10am. He was accompanied by his lawyer, Datuk Khalid Yusoff.

The questioning session is being conducted by the Classified Criminal Investigation Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department. Authorities had previously directed him to present himself at Bukit Aman at 10am to assist with the probe.

Media reports earlier identified Nizamuddin as one of two lawyers named in a police report that triggered the investigation into claims of a conspiracy to topple the government. The other lawyer mentioned in the report is Amir Zharif Abdullah.

Nizamuddin has denied the allegations, previously describing them as the “mother of all lies”.

It is understood that he intends to hold a press conference outside Bukit Aman after completing the police interview to address the claims made against him. - March 12, 2026
