AN elderly woman was killed after a car lost control and veered into oncoming traffic, colliding with another vehicle along Jalan Kulai–Kota Tinggi late yesterday.

The fatal crash occurred at about 6.50pm near the FELDA Taib Andak junction and involved two Perodua vehicles, an Axia and a Kenari.

Kulai District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Tan Seng Lee said initial investigations indicate that the accident happened when the Axia, driven by a 33-year-old local woman with her grandmother as a passenger, was travelling from Kulai towards Kota Tinggi before losing control.

The vehicle then skidded into the opposite lane and crashed into the Kenari.

According to him, the impact caused fatal head injuries to the 78-year-old passenger, who was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver sustained minor injuries.

“The driver of the Kenari, a 50-year-old local man, and a 32-year-old male passenger also suffered minor injuries. All those injured were taken to Hospital Temenggong Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim, Kulai for treatment.

“The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said, urging anyone with information to contact Inspector Mohd Ruslan Mohamed at 013-3063710. - April 4, 2026
