A search operation to find a missing elderly man in Kuala Selangor ended in tragedy today when his body was discovered in the river, believed to have fallen from a nearby village

THE disappearance of a 63-year-old P. Ravi, who had been missing since yesterday, was tragically resolved today when his body was discovered in the Jeti Batu 7 1/2 River in Kuala Selangor.

The elderly man, who was wheelchair-bound, was believed to have fallen into the Sungai Kampung Kuantan river. His body was found floating at around 8.30am this morning.

According to Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, Assistant Director of Operations for the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, a rescue team was immediately deployed after receiving an emergency call at 9.09pm the previous evening.

“A total of 13 personnel, including officers from the Bestari Jaya, Shah Alam, and Port Klang Fire and Rescue Stations, as well as the K9 Search and Rescue Unit, were involved in the operation,” said Ahmad Mukhlis.

The search, which utilized divers from the Water Rescue Team, focused on the area where the man was believed to have fallen.

In addition, the K9 unit conducted a ground search up to a one-kilometer radius in an attempt to locate the missing man.

After hours of intense searching, Ravi’s body was finally found approximately 5.5 kilometers from the site where he was last seen. Authorities confirmed the recovery of the body early this morning. - April 5, 2026
