KUALA LUMPUR – The Meteorological Department today issued a weather warning alert on heavy rain expected in Kelantan, and several areas in Terengganu and Pahang until Tuesday.

In a statement, it said the forecast involves Besut, Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Hulu Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu, Marang and Dungun in Terengganu, and Cameron Highlands and Lipis in Pahang.

Heavy rain is expected in Perak (Kinta, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim) and Selangor (Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor and Hulu Selangor) until tomorrow.

“A similar situation is also expected in Tangkak, Muar, Batu Pahat, Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Baru districts in Johor, while in Sabah, it involves the west coast (Kota Belud), Sandakan (Telupid and Beluran) and Kudat.”

Torrential rain is forecast to continue in Pahang (Maran, Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin) and Johor’s Mersing today.

Downpours in Kemaman in Terengganu, Pahang (Raub, Jerantut, Bentong, Temerloh and Bera) and Johor (Segamat and Kluang) are expected to last until Tuesday. – Bernama, January 3, 2021
