SERVICES on the Ampang/Sri Petaling Line were delayed today after a train derailed while passing a railway switch near the Chan Sow Lin station, subsequently disrupting services on the Ampang-Sri Petaling Line.

Rapid KL, in a statement, said a total of 25 passengers on the train were evacuated safely according to the set operating procedures.

“Technical teams are currently at the location to carry out repair work to restore operations as soon as possible,” it said.

Earlier, several posts went viral on social media showing users having to get off the train and walk on the tracks for the evacuation process to be carried out.

According to a post by user @I.shzni on Thread, he uploaded several photos and videos showing the situation he faced this morning.

“The reason for the LRT being late today. The route between Chan Sow Lin and Cheras stations. At 6.15 am, it was like this,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, Rapid KL stated that alternative train services have been activated to assist passengers in continuing their journey.

Among the services provided are trains from Sentul Timur that will turn back at Pudu Station with a frequency of four minutes.

Additionally, intermediate trains are provided between Cheras Station and Bandar Tasik Selatan on platform 1, with a frequency of eight minutes, and between Ampang and Pandan Jaya Stations on platform 1, with a frequency of five minutes.

Rapid KL also announced that trains from Putra Heights will turn back at Bandar Tasik Selatan Station with a frequency of four minutes.

In the meantime, free intermediary buses are also provided between Pudu Station and Cheras and Pandan Jaya to make it easier for passengers to continue their journey.

Passengers are also advised to use alternative rail routes to reach their respective destinations and seek assistance from Station Officers or Police Assistance if required.

The latest information on service status can be obtained via Rapid KL's official social media and the MyRapid PULSE application. – May 28, 2026
