A SUSPECTED member of an organised crime syndicate wanted by Malaysian authorities has been apprehended in a coordinated international operation involving law enforcement agencies from Malaysia, India and Thailand.
The arrest was carried out under Ops Lima, a special operation led by the Criminal Investigation Department of the Royal Malaysia Police, targeting individuals linked to organised criminal activities.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk M Kumar said the 46-year-old suspect, believed to be a member of the Geng TR organised crime group, was detained while travelling on a flight from Chennai in India to Bangkok in Thailand before being returned to Malaysia.
According to Kumar, the suspect had been actively sought by authorities and was arrested pursuant to a warrant issued by the Kuala Selangor Magistrates’ Court on 17 April. He was also the subject of an International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) Red Notice issued on 7 May.
The arrest represents a major development in ongoing efforts to disrupt Geng TR, a criminal organisation alleged to have been involved in violent crimes and drug-related activities across Selangor since 2021.
"Geng TR has been actively involved in violent crimes and drug-related activities around Selangor since 2021.
"The suspect was arrested for being a member of an organised criminal group and is being investigated under Section 130V of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment of not less than five years and not more than 20 years," he said in a statement.
Kumar said the suspect has an extensive record involving serious criminal offences, including murder, armed gang robbery and causing injury using weapons.
"Suspect also has records of various serious offences, including murder and armed gang robbery, as well as causing injury using weapons," he said.
The suspect is scheduled to be charged under Section 130V(1) of the Penal Code at the Shah Alam Sessions Court on Friday morning.
"Suspect will be charged under Section 130V(1) of the Penal Code at the Shah Alam Sessions Court, Selangor, at 10am tomorrow," Kumar said.
The police chief described the arrest as the result of close cooperation between regional law enforcement agencies and highlighted the growing importance of international collaboration in tracking fugitives involved in transnational criminal activities.
Kumar also expressed the Royal Malaysia Police's appreciation to authorities in India and Thailand for their assistance in securing the arrest.
He said the force remained committed to enforcing the law and strengthening efforts to safeguard national security and public wellbeing through continued cooperation with international policing partners. - June 4, 2026
