AN elderly couple were killed after the motorcycle they were riding was struck by a Perodua Bezza along Jalan Klang-Teluk Intan in Tanjong Karang, with their youngest son recalling the emotional moments he tried to comfort his dying father at the roadside.

The fatal collision occurred at about 5.30pm on Sunday at Kilometre 52 of Jalan Klang-Teluk Intan, near GiatMARA Tanjong Karang.

Preliminary police investigations indicate that the Honda Dash motorcycle carrying Yasin Ismail, 67, and his wife, Sabriah Norman, 63, entered the traffic lane suddenly before being hit from behind by the car.

The couple's youngest son, 29-year-old Muhammad Khairul, said his parents had been travelling from their home in Kampung Sungai Terap to Tanjong Karang town when the accident occurred.

He said he was tending to his garden behind the family home when a relative informed him of the crash at about 6pm.

"I immediately rushed to the scene and throughout the journey I kept hoping that my parents were still alive.

"When I arrived, I saw my mother lying unconscious while my father was by the roadside after members of the public had helped him out of a drain.

"I can still picture my father's hand gripping my right arm while he struggled through the pain. I guided him to recite the syahadah while pressing on the wound on his forehead to stop the bleeding," he said when met at the family home on Monday.

Muhammad Khairul said he later went to Tanjong Karang Hospital, where he was informed that both of his parents had succumbed to their injuries.

"My legs went weak when I received the news. I never imagined I would lose both my mother and father at the same time, but our family accepts Allah SWT's will.

"Perhaps there is wisdom behind this trial because everyone who lives will eventually die," he said.

He described his late parents as patient, sincere individuals who consistently reminded their children to perform their prayers at the earliest opportunity.

The couple were laid to rest at the Kampung Sungai Terap Muslim Cemetery at about 1am on Monday.

Kuala Selangor District Police Chief Superintendent Azaharudin Tajudin said initial investigations suggest the collision occurred after the motorcycle entered the lane of the Perodua Bezza unexpectedly, resulting in the vehicle striking the motorcycle from behind.

Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash. - July 6, 2026
