A man was killed and three others injured after two cars collided along the Baling–Grik Road in the early hours of Thursday - July 9, 2026

A MAN has died while three others sustained injuries following a collision involving two cars at Bukit Kemangi along the Baling–Grik Road in the early hours of Thursday.

Baling Fire and Rescue Station chief Assistant Fire Superintendent Zulkhairi Mat Tanjil said the department received an emergency call at 2.14am, prompting firefighters to the scene after the Kedah Fire and Rescue Department's Operations Control Centre (PGO) was alerted to the incident.

The crash involved a Proton Saga carrying three male occupants, believed to be employees of a fast-food restaurant, and a Proton Waja carrying a lone male driver.

According to the fire and rescue authorities, one passenger in the Proton Saga was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel from the Ministry of Health. The victim was not trapped inside the vehicle.

The driver of the Proton Waja sustained injuries after becoming trapped in the driver's seat and was extricated by firefighters.

The Proton Saga driver and another passenger in the vehicle also suffered injuries and were transported to Hospital Baling for medical treatment.

Zulkhairi said the identities of all four victims have yet to be established.

The accident caused traffic congestion stretching for nearly one kilometre in both directions despite occurring in the early morning. - July 9, 2026
