DEPUTY Prime Minister II Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof is recovering well but still requires adequate rest, while former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob remains under further monitoring at the National Heart Institute (IJN), Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said.
Anwar and his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail visited both leaders at IJN yesterday.
“Alhamdulillah, Fadillah’s health condition is improving, but he still needs sufficient rest on the advice of the medical team,” Anwar said in a Facebook post today.
He said he and Wan Azizah also visited Ismail Sabri as a gesture of friendship, adding that the former prime minister was still receiving treatment and required further monitoring.
“On the basis of friendship, we also visited former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who is also receiving treatment at IJN and still requires further monitoring.”
Anwar said he and Wan Azizah were praying for both leaders to make a speedy recovery and for their treatment to proceed smoothly.
“Azizah and I pray that both of them are granted a speedy recovery, that all aspects of their treatment are eased, and that they continue to be blessed with good health and strength to continue serving the people and the country, insya-Allah,” he said.
Fadillah’s office announced on Aug 3 that he would undergo heart bypass surgery at IJN on the advice of medical specialists.
Ismail Sabri was admitted to IJN on Aug 6 after experiencing health issues while having his statement recorded at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission headquarters.
He underwent a successful leadless pacemaker implantation procedure the following day to treat an abnormal heart rhythm and remains under close monitoring at IJN. - August 9, 2026
