POLICE in Temerloh have identified two victims believed to have died in a tragic collision involving a car and a diesel tanker at Kilometre 9 of Jalan Temerloh-Triang on Friday

Temerloh district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Nasyim Bahron said information provided by the victims' family members indicated that the deceased were a 37-year-old woman and her 12-year-old child.

"However, confirmation of both identities will be carried out through DNA comparison with samples from their family members. Further investigations are also underway to confirm the identities of the victims," he said in Temerloh today.

He said the accident occurred at about 4.30pm yesterday, involving a car and a tanker carrying 32,000 litres of diesel, which collided before catching fire.

Preliminary investigations found that the tanker was travelling from Seremban to Temerloh, while the car was heading from Jerantut towards Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.

Mohd Nasyim said the tanker was believed to have lost control upon reaching the location, crossed into the opposite lane and collided with a Perodua Bezza.

Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash, while DNA comparison with the victims' relatives will be conducted to formally establish their identities. - August 15, 2026
