THREE members of a family were killed after two adjoining houses caught fire in Lorong Sekolah Kanan 2A, Desa Mawar 2, early this morning.
A man was reported to have suffered burns before succumbing to his injuries, while his wife and son also died after being trapped inside the house.
Two other children, an adult son and a boy, survived the incident.
The Pahang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) said it received an emergency call at 4.11am, before personnel from the Muadzam Shah Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene six minutes later.
"On arrival at the scene, the operations commander confirmed that a fire had broken out involving a wooden house measuring approximately 20 by 30 sq ft and a semi-permanent house measuring approximately 30 by 40 sq ft.
"The buildings were adjacent to each other. The wooden house was completely destroyed, while 70 per cent of the semi-permanent house was damaged, with casualties involved," he said.
The department said all occupants of the semi-permanent house, comprising a man, a woman, three boys and a girl, escaped unharmed.
The operation was assisted by six personnel from the Chini Fire and Rescue Station's Operations Team, who helped inspect the premises and search for victims who might have been trapped.
The fire was brought under control at 5.05am, while the Fire Department's Forensics Unit was notified for further action.
The victims' bodies were handed over to the authorities for further action. - August 15, 2026
