THE moving story of a mother, M. Kavita, raising her five children touched the heart of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Anwar said through his social media that all the hard work and sacrifices of the woman were rewarded when her five children succeeded in their respective fields.
M. Kavita's sacrifice was also appreciated through a Special Award at the SWCorp Cleaner's Appreciation Day Ceremony yesterday.
"Touched by the story of sister M. Kavita, who has endured the heat and rain for over 12 years as a cleaning worker to raise her five children.
"May sister M. Kavita and all cleaning workers continue to be given the strength, health and respect they deserve. Thank you for all your dedication and sweat in maintaining cleanliness and the well-being of all of us,” he said.
Earlier, a two-minute and 50-second video showing a surprise in conjunction with the woman's birthday went viral on social media.
M. Kavita was at work at the time, being interviewed by an individual in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan and was unaware of the presence of her children, who were wearing their respective work uniforms.
It was reported that her children succeeded in achieving their dreams of working as nurses, cabin crew, teachers and pilots thanks to the hard work and dedication from Kavitha, who is a sweeper in Seremban.
M. Kavitha, 50, has served as a sweeper for 12 years with an income of around RM1,800 a month, stating that she wants to continue working because she is comfortable being independent and sincerely doing the job. – August 19, 2026
