A DECISION on whether Barisan Nasional (BN) will contest solo or collaborate with Pakatan Harapan (PH) or Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the Melaka State Election (PRN) will be made at the UMNO Supreme Council meeting on August 28.
Supreme Council member, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, said that the meeting, scheduled to take place at 8 pm, will discuss matters related to the political direction of Melaka, in addition to developments in Johor and Negeri Sembilan.
“As far as the information I have, there has been no final decision on the direction in Melaka. All that is available are discussions in the media and statements from several people.
“I see August 28 as an important date because the UMNO meeting will be held on Friday.
“All issues related to Melaka and matters to be reported regarding Johor and Negeri Sembilan can be brought up at that time,” he said today.
Ahmad, who is also the Deputy Minister of Works, said he would present his views on the direction of BN in Melaka at the meeting.
“I myself will raise it because I have never failed to speak up in every meeting to give suggestions,” he said.
He said that the main thing is to ensure that BN achieves victory in Melaka.
“As we decided in Johor, the method of contesting solo was suitable for Johor, so we gained victory in Johor.
“Then, an understanding with PN in Negeri Sembilan, that was the best method for that state,” he said. – August 20, 2026
