THREE members of a family, including a 67-year-old man, were burnt to death when a house caught fire in Kampung Darau, Menggatal, Kota Kinabalu, early today.

The victims were identified as Loupin Adow, 67; his son, Azman Maduin, 50; and his granddaughter, Nurul Asyiqin Alinor, 29.

Nurul’s 34-year-old husband sustained burn injuries in the blaze and was taken to hospital by the Fire and Rescue Department’s Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit for further treatment.

Lintas Fire and Rescue Station chief Noor Sherriyana Bohari, an Assistant Fire Superintendent, said the department received an emergency call about the incident at 1.43am.

She said 13 personnel, along with a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT), an EMRS vehicle and a Toyota Hilux, were dispatched to the scene and arrived about seven minutes later.

The three victims were subsequently found burnt inside the house. - August 21, 2026
