Kepong MP: Hadi has no immunity from law over alleged anti-DAP claims

PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang has the right to criticise DAP but should not be given immunity from the law over what Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng described as unfounded allegations against the party.

Lim said Hadi’s political criticism could not be used to justify accusations that contradicted DAP’s stated position on Islam, the Malay rulers, Bahasa Melayu and bumiputera rights under the Federal Constitution.

Citing one of Hadi’s “Minda Presiden PAS” writings, Lim said the PAS leader had accused DAP of seeking to eliminate the Malays and Islam.

“This is not ordinary criticism. The allegation itself contradicts DAP’s official stand where we defend the position of Islam, the Malay rulers, Bahasa Melayu, and the bumiputera as stipulated in the Federal Constitution,” Lim said in a Facebook post on Sunday.

He also questioned why no prosecution had been brought against Hadi despite 28 police reports being lodged against him in 2022 following remarks linking non-Muslims and non-bumiputera to Malaysia’s corruption problem.

Lim said the absence of prosecution to date raised questions over the handling of the reports.

“Hadi has the right to a fair legal process, but he does not have the right to immunity.

“The law must apply the same to everyone, whether they are the PAS president, DAP leader, or an ordinary citizen,” he said. - August 23, 2026
