THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is examining information concerning the quality of oil palm seedlings and the implementation of a development and replanting programme at FELDA Palong 7, Wilayah Raja Alias, Jempol, Negeri Sembilan.
The information was submitted by Pertubuhan Badan Bertindak Generasi Palong (PERBAGI) chairman Mohd Syahrizal Md Yusuf and concerns a programme reportedly benefiting about 450 settlers.
The concerns include the supply, delivery, storage and age of the seedlings, as well as whether they comply with the required specifications.
MACC said it would scrutinise the information to determine whether there were any elements potentially linked to offences within its jurisdiction.
“MACC takes note of the allegations and concerns raised and will examine the information to determine whether there are any elements that may be linked to offences under the jurisdiction of this agency,” it said.
The commission also took note of a request for the technical aspects of the seedlings, including their quality and compliance with specifications, to be examined by the relevant technical agencies.
“MACC also takes note of the request for technical aspects relating to the quality and compliance of the seedlings with specifications to be examined by the relevant technical agencies.
“Any further action will be determined based on the outcome of the review and the information obtained,” it said.
MACC stressed that receiving information did not mean that any individual or party had been found to have committed an offence.
“It should not be regarded as a conclusion against any individual or party involved,” it said.
The development comes after Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim called for weaknesses and problems in FELDA’s management to be addressed comprehensively.
Anwar was reported on Friday as saying that every weakness and problem identified in FELDA’s previous management should be followed by firm action to ensure similar issues do not recur.
He said every finding and weakness identified must be rectified, with appropriate action taken to strengthen FELDA’s governance and management.
The MACC review is expected to determine whether the information warrants further action, while technical assessments by the relevant agencies could establish whether the seedlings supplied met the prescribed quality and specification requirements. - August 25, 2026
