POLICE have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of the body of a man believed to be in his 30s at Kampung Sungai Division in Sungai Petani two days ago.
Kuala Muda district police chief Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan said police received a report on the discovery at 6.55pm.
“Initial investigations found that the man’s death involved elements of criminality, and the victim is believed to have died only recently.
“We have obtained a name by which the victim was known, but his actual identity is still being verified,” he told reporters in Sungai Petani today.
Hanyan urged anyone who may have a missing family member to come forward at the nearest police station to assist investigators in confirming the victim’s identity.
He also appealed to members of the public with information about the incident to contact the police and assist with the investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. - August 25, 2026
