THE family of four found dead at their home in Desa ParkCity on Aug 27 had never lodged a police report over an alleged investment and “love scam” believed to be linked to the case, police said.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said checks found no previous police report by the victims concerning the matter.
“However, investigations into the matter are still being conducted by police under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
“Therefore, any information regarding the findings or detailed developments of the investigation cannot be disclosed at this time to ensure the investigation process is not compromised and to safeguard the interests of the ongoing investigation,” he said today.
Fadil was responding to questions on the latest developments in the investigation, particularly allegations of investment-related dealings and a “love scam” involving the family.
Police received a report at 3.32pm on Aug 27 after a 48-year-old local man was found dead at the residential building.
Fadil said police subsequently went to the victim’s home and gained access to the unit with the assistance of the Fire and Rescue Department.
The man’s 47-year-old wife and their two children, a nine-year-old girl and a seven-year-old boy, were also found dead.
The woman and the two children were reported to have suffered severe injuries to their necks.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which concerns murder, while the deaths were also initially classified as sudden deaths (SDR).
Police had previously said a note believed to have been left by the man was found on the dining table at the residence.
The note reportedly referred, among other things, to alleged losses and debts amounting to RM260,000 linked to a “love scam”.
Police have yet to disclose further details on the alleged scam or establish whether it was a direct motive for the deaths. - September 2, 2026
