POLICE in Ipoh have arrested 11 men over a suspected revenge attack in Taman Pengkalan Jaya here that left a 26-year-old man seriously injured after he was chased and slashed with a machete.
Perak police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin said the suspects, aged between 22 and 41, were detained following investigations into the attack at about 10.30am on Sept 1.
He said the victim was at his cattle pen when five men arrived in two cars and chased him.
“When he was at the location, the victim was approached by a group of five men travelling in two cars before they chased and attacked him.
“The victim tried to escape by jumping into the Kinta River but was attacked with a machete by one of the suspects,” he said in Ipoh today.
The victim suffered serious injuries to his face, hands, legs and back before members of the public came to his aid and sent him to hospital for treatment.
Mohd Alwi said initial investigations indicated that the attack was believed to have been motivated by revenge and dissatisfaction towards the victim.
“Police take this incident seriously and have arrested 11 local men to assist in the investigation.
“All those detained have various previous criminal records involving drug offences and violent crimes,” he said.
He said all the suspects had been remanded to assist investigations into the attack, including to determine whether they were involved in an organised crime group.
The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt using a weapon.
“If convicted, they can be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison, fined and caned,” he said. - September 5, 2026
