A CLASSROOM at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Setia Alam in Persiaran Setia Prima was destroyed in a fire yesterday afternoon.
The blaze sent thick black smoke billowing from the school building, with videos of the incident later shared widely on social media.
Parents said pupils were moved to the school field following the fire, while some reported that books and other classroom equipment had been destroyed.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operations assistant director Ashrul Riezal Asbar said the department received a distress call at 4.20pm.
He said the classroom was destroyed, although the fire had been brought under control before firefighters arrived.
“Upon arrival, the headmaster informed firefighters that there were no pupils in the classroom. No casualties were reported,” he said in a statement.
Ashrul Riezal said investigations would be conducted to determine the cause of the fire. - September 15, 2026
