SERIAN in Sarawak remained the only area in Malaysia recording unhealthy air quality as of 7am today, with an Air Pollutant Index (API) reading of 154.
The latest data from the Department of Environment’s (DOE) Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) showed 63 other areas nationwide recording moderate API readings.
In Sarawak, Sri Aman recorded an API reading of 97, followed by Kuching at 95, Bintulu (92), Samarahan (89), Sarikei (81) and Sibu (71).
In Sabah, the monitoring station at Kota Kinabalu Polytechnic recorded an API reading of 84, while Tawau and Sandakan recorded 78 and 72 respectively.
In Johor, Pasir Gudang recorded an API reading of 83, while Larkin recorded 81.
Bukit Rambai in Melaka recorded 82, while Batu Pahat in Johor and Sungai Petani in Kedah each recorded 81.
An API reading of 0 to 50 is classified as good, 51 to 100 as moderate and 101 to 200 as unhealthy. - September 26, 2026
