AN 80-year-old man was found dead after being trapped inside a house that was engulfed by fire in Kampung Kuala Dong, Jalan Masuk Gesing, in Raub on Sunday night.
Pahang Fire and Rescue Department director Datuk Mohd Razam Taja Rahim said the victim was found in the living room after firefighters brought the blaze under control and conducted a search of the house.
He said firefighters from the Raub Fire and Rescue Station were dispatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call at about 9.56pm.
“The fire involved a semi-permanent house, with about 80 per cent of the structure destroyed.
“There was an elderly man trapped inside the house,” he said on Monday.
Firefighters conducted suppression and containment operations using one hose line with a dividing branch and two nozzles, drawing water from the fire engine’s tank.
Relay pumping support was also provided by a Fire and Rescue Tender (FRT) from the Kuala Lipis Fire and Rescue Station.
“The firefighting operation used defensive and offensive strategies before the victim was found trapped in the living room of the house,” he said.
