A 70-YEAR-OLD woman from Kampar died after allegedly being stabbed in the left side of her chest by her 49-year-old daughter at their home in Taman Golden, Manjung, Perak, police said today.
Perak police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi confirmed that the daughter had been arrested and that police seized a knife believed to be linked to the incident.
He said preliminary investigations found that only the victim and the suspect were at home when the incident occurred, while the victim’s son-in-law lodged the police report.
Mohd Alwi said police had sent the seized knife to forensic experts for further examination and were awaiting a hospital report to assist the investigation.
Police also obtained a seven-day remand order for the suspect until Oct 4 to facilitate investigations.
Mohd Alwi said the suspect was believed to have a history of mental illness, although investigations were still ongoing.
He said the victim had recently returned home after leaving a nursing home and was being cared for by her daughter and son-in-law.
The woman had limited mobility and usually needed to remain in bed, with her daily activities assisted by family members.
Police received a report at about 7pm yesterday regarding the incident at the house in Taman Manjung Golden Garden.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. - September 28, 2026
