PAKATAN Harapan (PH) has made no decision on cooperation with Bersatu in the upcoming Melaka state election despite a closed-door dinner between leaders of the two sides, says PH communications chief Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil.
Fahmi said he was not aware of any formal discussion linked to the dinner, which was attended by several senior Bersatu and PH leaders in Melaka last night.
“Based on media reports, it was only a dinner session. It was not discussed with me. I was not there and I have no information,” he told reporters after the launch of funding for the Ubat Melalui Pos initiative in Putrajaya today.
The gathering, held at a hotel in Jalan Hang Tuah as part of a pre-election programme, was attended by Bersatu Information Chief Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz, Bersatu Melaka election director Datuk Seri Mohamad Ali Mohamad, Bersatu Malaysia associate chief and Supreme Leadership Council member Datuk Sri R Sanjeevan, and Bersatu Melaka Information Chief Datuk Hishamuddin Abdul Karim.
Melaka Amanah chairman Datuk Ashraf Mukhlis Minghat and acting Melaka PKR chairman Adam Adli Abdul Halim were also present.
The dinner came amid discussions between PH and Bersatu over possible cooperation in the Melaka election.
PH Melaka chairman Datuk Adly Zahari has confirmed that the state coalition is in talks with Bersatu and other parties over a possible “PH Plus” arrangement.
Fahmi, who is also Communications Minister, said any final decision on PH’s position would have to be made by the coalition’s Presidential Council.
“Any final decision for PH will be made through the Presidential Council. So, for now, we are waiting for the Presidential Council.
“So far, there has been no development,” he said.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said he too had no information about the dinner, apart from what he had heard from a third party.
“I also have nothing. I only heard about it from a ‘third party’,” he said.
The Melaka Legislative Assembly was dissolved on Sept 23, paving the way for a state election within the constitutional timeframe. - September 29, 2026
