POLICE are investigating a possible organised-crime link in the shooting of a businessman at a petrol station in Bidor on Tuesday, although no conclusion has been reached on whether any secret society was involved.
Perak police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin said investigators were examining all possible angles, including the possibility that the attack was linked to a secret society.
“We will investigate before we draw any conclusion on this matter.
“As I said before, we will look at everything and examine every piece of evidence, after which we will narrow down several areas to establish the cause and motive of the case,” he told reporters at the Hilir Perak District Police Headquarters in Teluk Intan today.
Mohd Alwi said police had so far recorded statements from 10 witnesses, including the 41-year-old victim, who remains under treatment.
The other nine witnesses comprised members of the public, petrol station employees and three members of the victim’s family who were in the same vehicle during the incident.
The victim is a businessman with a chain of restaurants and other businesses in Tapah, Bidor and Slim River.
Police previously said the victim was believed to have been followed by three suspects travelling in a vehicle bearing a fake registration number before the shooting at about 6.08pm.
The victim was driving a Toyota Land Cruiser and had stopped at the petrol station to refuel when a black Honda City stopped in front of his vehicle.
Two armed men then allegedly emerged from the car and fired several shots at the victim before fleeing.
The victim suffered a gunshot wound to his left shoulder.
Police recovered a 9mm Luger bullet, four spent cartridge cases and bullet fragments at the scene.
Investigations are continuing to identify the suspects, establish the motive and determine whether the shooting was linked to any secret society. - October 2, 2026
