HIS Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, has called on political leaders to cease feuding, squabbling, and vying for power, warning that such rivalries threaten to cause deep divisions within society.

His Royal Highness decreed that all focus and resources must instead be directed towards state development, public well-being, and supporting vulnerable communities in need of assistance.

The ruler emphasised that differing political ideologies and affiliations should never act as a barrier to cooperation when the interests of Selangor and its people are at stake.

"The responsibilities of leadership must be carried out with complete trust, prioritizing the interests of the people above personal or political group interests," the Sultan stated in an official release via the Selangor Royal Office Facebook page.

The statement further highlighted the ruler's reminder that Selangor's progress must be accompanied by social harmony and administrative stability.

His Royal Highness advised leaders to maintain mutual respect and engage in constructive dialogue whenever addressing disagreements.

The royal decree coincided with the Sultan attending a Yasin recital and prayer service marking his Silver Jubilee, celebrating 25 years on the throne, held at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque. Following the service, the ruler joined members of the public to perform Friday prayers.

During the event, the Sultan met and dined with two former Selangor Chief Ministers, Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo and Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, alongside the current Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

"This meeting reflects the Sultan of Selangor's continuous concern for the state's direction and the people's livelihood, while demonstrating the good relationship between the royal institution and the state administrative leadership, including those who have previously borne the responsibility," the statement added. - October 3, 2026
