BUDGET 2027 is expected to dominate proceedings when the Dewan Rakyat resumes tomorrow, with the government set to table its spending plans for next year in Parliament next week.
The Budget will be the fifth under the Madani administration and is expected to be aligned with the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13), the Madani Economy framework, the National Semiconductor Strategy and the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR).
The sitting will also see MPs raise a range of policy and legislative matters, including the proposed National Ageing Action Plan and the Artificial Intelligence Governance Bill.
The Royal Commission of Inquiry into Lembaga Tabung Haji is expected to remain an issue of contention, with opposition MPs likely to continue pressing the government on the matter.
Other issues expected to feature include the presence of undocumented migrants and calls for the repeal of the Universities and University Colleges Act 1971 (AUKU).
Several Bills are also scheduled for their first reading, including the Sports Development (Amendment) Bill 2026 and the Food (Amendment) Bill 2026.
The Dewan Rakyat sitting will run alongside preparations for Budget 2027, which will outline the government’s spending priorities and policy direction for the year ahead. - October 4, 2026
