THREE former Negeri Sembilan Undangs and the serving Johol Undang today withdrew their application seeking to commence a judicial review to compel the menteri besar to sign a proclamation to dethrone the Yang Dipertuan Besar.

The withdrawal was recorded before High Court judge Norliza Othman, who allowed the withdrawal after lawyer Khairul Azam Abdul Aziz said he was instructed to discontinue the application.

They had sought a mandamus order to compel the menteri besar to sign a proclamation recognising the purported removal of Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir.

The judicial review was withdrawn on the grounds that it had become academic following the Menteri Besar’s admission that he had signed the proclamation dated August 3.

The High Court recorded the withdrawal during case management conducted in chambers before Justice Norliza.

The applicants were former Undang Luak Sungai Ujong Datuk Mubarak Thahak, former Undang Luak Jelebu Datuk Maarof Mat Rashad, and former Undang Luak Rembau, Datuk Abdul Rahim Yasin.

Others include serving Undang Luak Johol Datuk Muhammed Abdullah, Abdul Rahim Yasin, Tunku Besar Tampin Tunku Syed Razman Tunku Syed Idrus Al-Qadri and former Shahbandar Sungai Ujong Datuk Seri Badarudin Abdul Khalid.

The six traditional leaders filed the judicial review in July, naming the Menteri Besar and the Negeri Sembilan state government as respondents.

They had sought a mandamus order compelling the Menteri Besar to sign a proclamation recognising the removal of Tuanku Muhriz, as well as another proclamation recognising Tunku Nadzaruddin Tuanku Jaafar as the 12th Yang di-Pertuan Besar. - October 7, 2026
